Bites
The Humane Society monitors all animal bite cases for the El Paso County Health Department. Regardless the extent of injuries, all animal bites must be reported to the Humane Society. Animals involved in bite cases must undergo a 10-day quarantine to determine if the animal has rabies. Such animals may be quarantined at home or at the shelter, depending upon the situation. It is illegal to own or keep any animal that has been declared vicious.
CITY LAW:

(Excerpt) The General Assembly hereby finds, determines, and declares that dangerous dogs are a serious and widespread threat to the safety and welfare of citizens throughout the state because of the number and serious nature of attacks by such dogs.
