Licensing

City and County ordinances require that all dogs be inoculated against rabies. Dogs that reside in the County leash law areas must also be licensed within 30 days after the dog becomes four months old. Animals are required to wear their issued tags at all times.

Licenses for residents of El Paso county (outside the city limits) may be obtained from the Humane Society. A current rabies certificate must be presented to obtain a license and discounts are offered to spayed or neutered animals as well as to senior citizens. The license is valid 1 or 3 years from date of issue and is not transferable. Please notify the Humane Society of any change in ownership or address, or in the event of your pet’s death.

For licensing within the City of Colorado Springs please contact the Colorado Springs City Impoundment Facility at 227-7387.
