Leash Laws
Animals must be kept under control for their own protection and to preserve the public’s health and safety. All dogs must remained leashed when on public land. Dogs, cats, livestock, and other animals found roaming off the owner’s or keeper’s property are called “strays” and may be impounded. The owner or keeper of said animals may be fined for violating leash laws.
COUNTY LAW:
Within the resolution area, it shall be the duty of any owner or keeper of a dog to keep such dog under control, as herein defined, so as to prevent the dog from running at large, becoming a danger to persons or property, or trespassing on the property of another. (Res. 78 -136)
Barking Dogs
Incessant barking can be very disturbing to the peace and quiet of a neighborhood. In addition, it violates County ordinances to harbor such a disturbance.
COUNTY LAW:
It shall be unlawful to own or keep a dog which, by barking, howling, baying or other utterance, disturbs the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. (Res. 78-136, Sec 16)
